Gonesh Jew

While the evolution the temple structure can be traced back for over a hundred years – the origin of the Idol of the Lord dates back to more than the recorded history of 1907 – wherein in one of the very old documents one finds the mention of the Lord. So for all devotees to know – that the idol of the Lord to which we all humbly offer our prayers dates back to the early 19th century or may be even earlier.

The Temple which house the current temple of Lord Shiva – was the earlier abode of Lord Gonesh. This structure was built by Sri Chandra Nath Dutta – with an effort to save guard the dilapidated temple in the year 2001 – when the old structure was torn down and this was constructed.

In those days not many knew that there existed a temple as it was away from the road – with many small structures encroaching the land in front. With immense efforts of many years the land was acquired and made suitable for the new temple that one sees today.

It is also important to share that this temple of the lord has been served by the generations of Lt Nritto Lall Dutt ever since the early 1900. Post the death of Lt Nritto Lall Dutt – his successors Lt Hrishikesh Dutta humbly carried out all efforts as a family to serve the Lord. It was his envision to serve the Lord in continuity that the current day Trust “Sri Sri Gonesh Jew Thakur Trust” was formed in the year 1974. And thereafter the trust and its sebaits have served the Lord relentlessly and has been able to gift the society the temple of the Lord that is open to all to worship the Lord – only with the blessing of the Lord.

One would also be very startled to know the manner in which the temple of the Lord Hanuman ji was founded. It was in the middle of a night in the year 2006 that a strong devotee of Lord Ganesha and a very close friend of Sri Chandra Nath Dutta rang him up and said that he has got a dream that ‘I Lord Hanuman’ have been lying the temple of the Lord Ganesha and it is time that ‘prathisthan’ be done. Both in their utmost state of shock reached the temple and started searching – ideally for an idol of the lord hanuman in his know avatar – but after searching for hours they found nothing and almost gave up. It was at that moment that he found this ‘stone’ which when he held up was shocked to see it resembled the exact features of the head of Lord Hanuman. Shell shocked – they placed the same under the criss-cross of the Neem and Mango tree – where till date Lord Hanuman is prayed and celebrated.

When one visits the temple today – they are surely to be moved by the auspicious positivity that it reflects. It’s only the history which make them re-believe that we are here only to serve while Lord is here since and till Eternity.
